Melasma (Cholasma):

Is pigmentation that occurs on the upper lip, cheeks, forehead and chin
Is sometimes also known by the names:
- Cholasma
- The mask of pregnancy
It may be caused by:
- Female hormones
- Hormone replacements
- The birth control pill
- Pregnancy
- Other medications
Sometimes there is no obvious cause
Sun exposure is extremely important in causing the pigmentation to occur and to come back after treatment
