General Measures:

• Wear vinyl gloves for all housework dealing with water
  • Some people develop an allergy to rubber or latex gloves and this can make their eczema even worse
  • Vinyl gloves do not cause an allergy
• Wear gloves whenever you are working with raw fruit, vegetables and meats as the juices from them can make eczema worse
• Wear thin cotton liners inside the gloves to minimize sweating
• While doing dry, dusty and dirty work, wear cotton gloves
• Avoid direct contact with strong soaps, solvents and other harsh chemicals
• Do not use ‘antibacterial’ soaps or public washroom soap
• Take off rings when washing your hands
• After washing your hands gently pat them dry
  • Avoid vigorous rubbing
• Avoid exposure of the hands to hair tonics, shampoos and lotions
